H.G. Peter cover/art; 2nd Wonder Woman, 1st cover; origin & 1st app Wildcat, Mr. Terrific and the Gay Ghost
Bobby Blue Collection

Wonder Woman made her second appearance in Sensation Comics #1, with a cover debut that turns this classic comic into a pop-culture touchstone. H.G. Peter's outstanding cover remains the most iconic image of Wonder Woman from across the Comic Ages. Sensation #1 also remains the moment when William Marston's heroine exploded onto the Golden Age scene while establishing DC's superhero trinity.

In further milestones, "Wonder Woman Arrives in Man's World" has the Amazon returning Steve Trevor to America and taking on the identity of Diana Prince. From there, Wonder Woman quickly became an inspiring role model to millions of girls and women from around the world. This issue is also the debut of Peter's artistic vision, which combines the crude grace of ancient Greek artists with the majesty of storybook illustration. H.G. Peter was clearly introducing his audience to a strip that looked and felt like nothing else before — soon leading to DC creating the first solo comic for a female superhero with Wonder Woman #1

Wonder Woman was quickly given her feature anthology title after her debut in All-Star Comics #8, making Sensation Comics #1 her first cover appearance and an important key of DC’s Golden Age. There are just over 110 copies of this issue on the CGC census making the book a very rare commodity, with fandom for the Amazonian heroine on the rise in the modern era, the the market for copies is consistently on the rise. This 6.0 copy from the Bobby Blue Collection is structurally sound, and although it bears a few telltale signs of its vintage, the overall condition is quite impressive, considering its 80+ years of existence. It has recently been rumored that James Gunn will be rebooting the WW franchise, which will no doubt drive the value and demand for this comic further into the highest reaches of investment books. A Sensation Comics #1 6.0 sold for $58.000 in August 2023.
