1st appearance of Vulture; 1st app. of the Terrible Tinkerer; 1st "Spider-Sense Tingling;" Steve Ditko cover/art; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 8 (CBI)

Amazing Spider-Man #2 has Spider-Man facing the first appearance of the Vulture, along with the first appearance of that darn Tinkerer who would eventually be responsible for plenty of new supervillains showing up all over New York City. And don't forget that all this is part of just the third appearance of Spider-Man!

This iconic issue has co-creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko veering into new territory after the first issue of the Amazing Spider-Man featured the Chameleon as a mere Master of Disguise amidst some garden-variety thugs. The vile and villainous Vulture introduces a new twist in the fledgling Marvel Age by inspiring some of Ditko's earliest nightmarish visuals. That includes a classic cover featuring our hero in trouble against the backing of a bold red sky that had never been attempted on a Marvel book. Readers also get their first close look at Spidey's web-shooters as Peter Parker unveils his belt camera to make some money selling pics to J. Jonah Jameson's NOW magazine — in addition to Peter's first "tingle" from his "spider-sense!"

Bearing an impressive 8.0 grade and white pages, this copy of the second issue of Amazing Spider-Man is a sight to behold. Showcasing the first appearances of the Vulture as well as a very early appearance of Spidey himself, this is an important issue in the early run of ASM. Spider-Man and the Vulture really pop on this classic Ditko cover, made even more attractive by its solid construction and lack of visible imperfections. This is a very rare find, any copy of this book sells for impressive amounts, and will undoubtedly increase in value as Spider-Man continues to create new legions of fans on the silver screen. An Amazing Spider-Man #2 8.0 sold for $15,075 in August 2021.

Overstreet Guide 2022 VF (8.0) value = $8,000.
