Jack Kirby cover/art; 1st app Toad, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants; 2nd app of Magneto; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 8 (CBI)
Magneto is back, but this time he is not alone, he has brought along some support to take on those pesky X-Men, his answer to the talented teens is the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, comprised of Toad, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Mastermind, Magneto is ready to take on the nascent hero team in this, his second-ever appearance. Boasting a classic Jack Kirby cover, this is one of the most important books from the early days of the X-Men. Not only does it place the power-mad Magneto front and center, it also introduces a couple of characters that would go on to mega-stardom in the Marvel Universe, in comics and on film, brother and sister team Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, who were featured not only in the MCU, but also in Fox's X-Men franchise.

Boasting a strong color palette, this is an impressive copy of X-Men #4, which presents very few telltale signs of this book’s 60-year vintage. The Scarlet Witch's green (?) outfit contrasts wonderfully with the yellow in the miniature X-Men's costumes and the red and purple hues of Magneto's suit, cowl, and cloak are also quite vivid. This is one of the nicer examples of this book, with white pages and an impressive 9.4 grade, surely presenting a nice opportunity for an X-fan trying to complete a run of early issues. An X-Men #4 9.4 sold for $15,000 in July 2020.

Overstreet Guide 2023 NM- (9.2) value = $11,000.
