Frazetta coverIn the early 1960s, Ace Science Fiction Classics introduced a new generation to the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs' beloved Tarzan—with Frank Frazetta's cover art (and title page illustrations) luring in readers. The publishers also worked closely with Burroughs fan base, to the extent of promoting contact addresses for fan organizations. The company also reprinted (and updated) Richard A. Lupoff's acclaimed book about Burrough's work. Lupoff's book has remained in print into the 21st century. This edition offered exclusive drawings by the team of Al Williamson & Reed Crandall, plus previously unseen art that Ace had commissioned from Frazetta and Crandall. (The MASTER cover is from Frazetta's art for Ace's reissue of BEASTS OF TARZAN.) Books in the Ace series during this time are seldom found in high grades.
