Bernard Baily pencils and inks; illustration; 1940; image size 6.5" x 8.25"
Announced in Adventure Comics #57. The only Hour Man art by Baily still in existence.
Jon Berk Collection1940's Adventure Comics #57 announced the names of the 10 winners of their letter-writing contest (originally announced in issue #54). Each of the winners received one dollar, plus an original drawing of Hour Man by Bernard Baily. This drawing went to winner William Carroll, whose name and address are printed in the issue. This is the only one of the prizes still in existence, and the only known Baily Hour Man art of any kind. The drawing itself is a wonderful relic of DC's Golden Age, featuring Hour Man and Jimmy Martin of the Minute-Men, who provide a spectacular inscription that reads "Regards to: William Carroll From "Tick Tock" Tyler The Hour Man and Jimmy Martin". Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition. Signed by Baily.
The images from the original issues of Adventure Comics are for reference only.
Artist Information
American comic book artist, Baily co created DC characters the Spectre and Hourman.
