Superman Daily Strip Contract Renewal Memo w/ Handwritten Notes
Jerry Siegel Letters

Superman became an instant hit with the April, 1938, debut of Action Comics #1. By September of that year, Detective Comics, Inc. -- who'd already paid co-creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster $130 for the rights to the character -- were putting together a deal with the McClure Newspaper Syndicate for a daily Superman comic strip.

This renewal memo (with handwritten notes) reveals that the Superman strip was still going strong in 1949, with McClure anticipating a high end of $350 a week in syndication sales (with that money divided 60/40 between National Comics and McClure).
