Jack Kirby cover/art; Steve Ditko art; 1st app of the Watcher & Red Ghost; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 8 (CBI)Fantastic Four #13 is a notably rare early issue in the comics' run, especially in higher grades. The artwork has certainly remained popular, though, with collectors still marveling over how Steve Ditko's lively inks worked with the ferociously muscular figures and layouts of Jack "The King" Kirby. Stan Lee and Kirby were also making comics history by introducing the Watcher, who'd remain one of the most intriguing meta-creations of the Marvel Silver Age.
There's also the first appearance of the Red Ghost, who'd also spend decades as one of the FF's fave villains. There's a lot of new excitement over the Fantastic Four as Marvel Studios' finally reclaims the rights to their original super-team. Collectors can expect to see every issue of Lee & Kirby’s run on the title to see an upswing in interest and value.
