The Phantom—who predated Superman in both daily newspapers and comic books—was wildly popular throughout much of the 20th Century. Lee Falk's beloved character debuted in comic books with this Feb. 1938 issue of Ace Comics #11 , in an issue that could very well mark the first appearance of any superhero in a newsstand comic. This historically important comic is extremely rare, only found in numbers low enough to rival the scarcity of Marvel Comics #1, Action #1, and Captain America #1. Collectors never fail to leap at this shockingly rare opportunity to buy this remarkable and important artifact.
There are only 16 copies of Ace Comics #11 on the CGC Census, and only one graded higher than this striking 6.5 edition. The bright focal point of Joe Musial's classic cartoon cavalcade cover is impressively intact as this vital comic turns 86 years old!
