Issue #18 of Star Spangled Comics presents another classic early Kirby & Simon cover that shows the Newsboy Legion and their adult supervisor, The Guardian, literally schooling a mob boss while an assassin lurks in the background aiming a pistol. Jack Kirby’s style would continually become more refined and surreal as the decades wore on, so it's a special treat to view some of his earliest contributions to the history of comic art before he defined the genre in the Silver Age. Early issues of Star Spangled Comics are extremely rare and are very hot items at auction as a result.
