Wil Eisner pencils and inks; specialty drawing; 1945; image size 7" x 7"Incredibly rare example of an Eisner Spirit drawing created during his time in the service when he had stepped away from the operations of the Spirt comics. This drawing of The Spirit and his trusty sidekick Ebony was likely done for a fellow serviceman and is dated March 20, 1945, before the end of the war in Europe. We are only aware of one other drawing of The Spirit by Eisner that still exists from this period. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition. Signed and inscribed by Eisner.

Will is famous for his experiments in content and form in comics as well as popularizing the term "Graphic Novel". Will Eisner's most recognized works are The Spirit and A contract with God.
