origin & 1st app. Capt. Cold; 2nd app. FlashThe historical significance of this comic should not be underestimated as it not only features the second ever appearance of the Silver Age Flash, the character that would single-handedly reignite the superhero comic genre, but also the premiere of one of his top nemeses, Captain Cold. Cold's alter-ego Len Start is a bit of a loser who stumbles upon his super criminal persona thanks to a harebrained scheme and a bit of good luck. After stealing a “Cyclotron” he manages to convert the device into a cold gun, granting himself an ability that can help slow down the Flash, as well as create mirages to distract the Scarlet Speedster. His plans are thwarted, and he is arrested, but the popularity of Captain Cold would grow over the years until he would assume the position of one of Flash’s most beloved villains, leading to a plethora of appearances in the series, and the DC Universe overall.
