Human Torch #23 sports an amazing post-war cover by legendary artist Alex Schomburg, featuring the Torch and Toro destroying a giant robot who's tearing apart a city. Schomburg adds a great portrait of the Sub-Mariner, as well. The classic contents of this book, however, show the Human Torch and Toro playing detective as they solve showbiz murders, stop an arsonist, and help out an economist. Prince Namor is in the same boat, so to speak, as he battles a corrupt construction company out to stop the building of a medical center. Schomburg was smartly left to his own inspirations for this classic comic, providing newsstands with the kind of real action that would keep the Torch's solo book going for three more years.
