Zip Comics #2 has the original Man of Steel using a trick from the Superman playbook as Steel Sterling thwarts a prison break by picking up the means of escape. It's yet another classic Zip cover from Charles Biro — with the Golden Age artist becoming a major part of keeping the original Zip Comics run going as constant collectibles. That wild imagery also sets up "The Return of the Black Knight," where Steel stops a prison break and goes after the crime lord who made his debut in the previous issue.

It is a pretty fair bet that when a comic bears the Mile High pedigree, that book will be in excellent condition, possibly be the top copy on the census and is also likely to be a rare issue. This copy of Zip Comics #2 hits all of those marks, and then some. This 9.6 is the highest graded copy of only 17 registered overall. The color strike is bright and clean. Featuring bold yellows and reds and moody purples. There are no telltale signs of this book's 85-year vintage, as it has remained in a virtual state of suspended animation into the modern day. Owning an Edgar Church copy is the dream of many and the honor of the few. This is one of the great Golden Age rarities that the revered pedigree is all about.
