A 15% BUYER'S PREMIUM WILL BE ADDED TO THIS ITEM AT CONCLUSION OF THE AUCTIONThe American pulp magazine Dime Mystery Magazine was published from 1932 to 1950 by Popular Publications. Initially titled Dime Mystery Book Magazine, it featured standard mystery stories, including a full-length novel in each issue, but struggled to compete with established rivals like Detective Novels Magazine and Detective Classics. Seeking to stand out, the magazine shifted its editorial focus in October 1933, beginning to publish "weird menace" horror stories. These tales featured protagonists who appeared to face supernatural threats, only to have the mysteries ultimately explained through natural means. This new genre direction was inspired by publisher Harry Steeger's exposure to the gory dramatizations of the Grand Guignol theater in Paris. While supernatural stories were rare in Dime Mystery, they did occasionally appear alongside the more common "weird menace" tales.
