Joe Kubert (Sept. 18, 1926 - Aug. 12, 2012) began his career at the age of 13. He was also an art teacher and founder of The Kubert School. He is best known for his work on the characters like Sgt. Rock, Hawkman, Tor, Son of Sinbad and the Viking Prince.
Don Newton was an American comic artist. During his career, he worked for a number of comic book publishers including Charlton Comics, DC Comics, and Marvel Comics. He is best known for his work on The Phantom, Aquaman, and Batman. Newton also drew several Captain Marvel/Marvel Family stories and was a fan of the character having studied under Captain Marvel co-creator C. C. Beck.
Tex Blaisdell was an American comic book/ Strip artist who's best known for his work on Little Orphan Annie. Tex has also inked for numerous DC comics titles including Green Lantern, Superman, Adam Strange and Batman.
John Calnan was an American commercial artist, who also worked for comic books. His first comic book work was inking Tom Gill's pencils on 'Lone Ranger' for Dell Publications. He then did some work for Gilberton's 'Classics Illustrated' series, before becoming an advertising art director and TV producer for agencies. He returned to comics in 1966, mainly doing work for DC Comics. Calnan did a lot of work for anthology titles like 'The Unexpected' (1970-1980), 'Ghosts' (1971-1979), 'The Witching Hour' (1971-1976), 'G.I. Combat' (1976-1977) and 'House of Mystery' (1973, 1977-1978). Calnan retired in 1996, but continued doing work for friends and the occasional commission job. He passed away on 27 December 2016 at the age of 84.
