Wells' "The Time Machine", the X-Men's latest challenge is the last survivor of an underground civilization who comes to the surface to seek revenge on humankind. Adopting the name Grotesk after being designated as such by the Beast, the irradiated giant blames the human race for the demise of his people. Unbeknownst to Grotesk, one of the machines his people built is still operational, and is currently causing tremors that threaten to destroy the planet, and only the X-Men can stop him! The bonus story "The Living Diamond" rounds out the remainder of this classic issue.

Don Heck was an American comics artist best known for co-creating the Marvel Comics characters Iron Man and the Wasp, and for his long run penciling The Avengers during the Silver Age.
Werner Roth is an American comic book artist who's worked with Marvel's predecessor Atlas during the golden age of comics. Werner was also notably the artist who took over the X-men series after Jack Kirby left. Roth's other famous works include Lorna, the Jungle Girl and Superman's Girlfriend, Lois Lane.
