Spanish artist Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez's refined line and classically inspired sensibilities are respected and adored among industry vets. His influence on modern artists is immense, and his work served as a method guide and model sheet for DC's house style for over a decade in the 90s and 00s. Before his nearly half-century tenure with DC, he began in American comics at Charlton, lending his impeccable hand to genre covers such as this fine example. Even in this charmingly simple piece, he is capable of incredible expressiveness and emotion in the most basic of strokes and lines, transforming a potentially cliched image into an awe-inspiring work of art. Most Garcia-Lopez art on the market comes from his later period, having the chance to own an early, formative work such as this is a real treat for comic art enthusiasts.
