Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse was a nearly instant success, justifying the years of hard work and determination that the canny producer had put into his seemingly foolish cartoon enterprises. The cheerful, resilient little rodent with the infectious laugh and can-do spirit was a breath of fresh air for exhausted Depression-era audiences, and soon pretty much anything with the mouse's face on it was selling by the truckload. This incredibly early tie-in, boasting sheet music, games, and stories, was the first licensed Disney publication, making it a vitally important document for serious Disney collectors and mouse mavens, and among the most coveted of Mickey memorabilia.
