Billy Wright copySteel Sterling takes a play from the Superman playbook and uses vehicular fortitude to thwart a prison break. Golden Age hero covers, especially from the minors like MLJ, are usually pretty surreal and hectic, and this high-powered image is no exception. Only two issues in and MLJ pretty much had their pattern set for the pre-Archie period, with atmospheric art, crude but effective storytelling, and no end of ambition and spunk.
