Captain Marvel battles the Super-Skrull (in the guise of Ronan, Megaton, Yon-Rogg, the Hulk, and the Sub-Mariner) in "A Taste of Madness!", script by Mike Friedrich, pencils by Jim Starlin (first work on the series), inks by Chic Stone; In an elaborate scheme of the Skrulls and their mysterious Masterlord, Super-Skrull and Kl'rt, Rick Jones is framed for the murder of Dr. Benjamin Savannah and brought to a run-down police precinct; Using Super-Skrulls invisibility as well as other Skrull technology, Mar-Vell and Rick are led to believe that many of his long-time friends and foes have returned and are attacking him; Rick and Mar-Vell identify the ruse, and Mar-Vell attacks the Skrulls; The building collapses in the battle and the Skrulls escape.


Artists Information

After leaving the Navy as a photographer Jim Starlin began his career in comic books where he enjoyed success as both a writer and artist. Starlin credits legendary artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko as major influences to his illustration style which is apparent in his early works. For over 40 years hes been known for his space opera-esque stories where he created popular characters such as Thanos, Drax and Gamora. His most notable works include Iron Man Adam Warlock and the Infinity Gauntlet.

Joe Sinnott is an American comic book artist. Working primarily as an inker, Sinnott is best known for his long stint on Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four, from 1965 to 1981, initially over the pencils of Jack Kirby. During his 60 years as a Marvel freelancer and then salaried artist working from home, Sinnott inked virtually every major title, with notable runs on The Avengers, The Defenders and Thor.
