Having garnered success with the teen funnies market with Wilbur, Bob Montana once again struck pay dirt with the character of Archie Andrews — seen here in only his second appearance (in the same month as Archie's debut in Pep #22). Archie, of course, would soon become a household name and a true American icon. At this point, however, he was just a clumsy, awkward, lovable (and love-struck) teen, with his cast of characters still being assembled. This classic story includes the debut of beloved teacher Mrs. Grundy. (She's the principal of Riverdale High in this first appearance, but is reintroduced as schoolteacher Miss Grundy in Pep #30.)
