Tales to Astonish #27 has Stan Lee and Jack Kirby once again drawing upon the monster movies of the 1950s as they feature the first appearance of Henry Pym in the Marvel Universe. In this intro, however, Pym is simply an endangered genius in a story inspired by the big-screen sci-fi classic The Incredible Shrinking Man. Pym even dumps his shrinking serum down the drain at the end of "The Man in the Ant Hill!" Ant-Man wouldn’t acquire his iconic costume or proper origin until issue #35, but readers loved him all the same. This book has always been a favorite among collectors, but saw an explosion in demand and value over the past few years as Ant-Man became a popular player in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
