Frank Miller pencils and inks; Catwoman variant cover; 2014; image size 17" x 11"
Beautiful wraparound cover by Miller to the historic Detective Comics #27 (the first new Detective #27 since the introduction of Batman), originally created as a double spread, then changed to be a variant cover. This seductive image of Catwoman is one only Miller could produce, with stark blacks and the expressive design people have come to expect. Miller is one of the most important Batman creators in the 80+ year history of the character, when it came time to celebrate this historic issue a roster of creators was assembled to produce variant covers, to have his contribution to such an important issue would be the centerpiece of many collections. The cigarette was digitally removed and the image was flipped from the original for the published book. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition. Initialed by Miller.
