The moody cover (an homage to Frank Miller's Ronin mini-series) features deep blacks and bloody reds as our heroes stand ready against the forces of evil. Of course, this all before the Playmates toy company licensed the cultish comic. Eastman and Laird's characters were soon to be toned down and made more child-friendly. In these early books, however, they pulled no punches on the way to becoming top pop-culture icons. The time is nigh to grab your own copy before the price soars once again.

This beautiful book carries a 9.2 from CGC, with wonderful white pages. This copy includes signatures on the inside front cover by TMNT creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, although the signature is not verified, it is indeed the real McCoy. The front cover appears fantastically clean, with the rich red, white, and black design, and the bloody logo is dangerously sharp. Fans and investors alike would fantasize about having a copy of TMNT #1 in their collection, let alone in such a high grade and signed by the creators.
