Archie Comics #1 is a vital part of pop culture, launching eight decades of Archie Andrews’ solo book. The comic is also notable as a notoriously scarce title despite debuting with an enormous print run. Top-tier Archie collectors know this classic debut is considered one of the "black holes" of the collecting community, with an Archie #1 seldom seen again once it's brought into a collection. This might even be the single most difficult major Golden Age key to obtain after Pep Comics #22 (where Archie and his pals made their first appearances). This book never fails to elicit excitement when copies surface at auction.

This copy of Archie Comics #1 earned a 4.0 Universal Grade from CGC, with off-white to white pages. The book has a very minor amount of color touch on the cover, but it barely detracts from the iconic Bob Montana illustration of America's favorite teenagers Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead. Archie's first self-titled book, a series that would continue to run to this day, is a historic pop-culture phenomenon. Only 69 copies of this comic are recorded on the CGC Census, with the majority of them being below a 4.0. This is an extremely rare Golden Age key that seldom turns up in this condition. Who knows how long it will be before another copy comes to auction?
