Alex Schomburg German WWII Human Torch cover (1/42)
Marvel Mystery Comics ##27 continues
Alex Schomburg's run of classic WWII covers, with lots of carefully detailed action as the Human Torch flies in to save his sidekick Toro from sadistic Nazis. The interior story from writer/artist Carl Burgos is just as thrilling, although the Torch and Toro are really in the States while taking on a flaming arrows of a Nazi spy called the Saint. Namor is staying busy with a tax-dodging furrier, but there's also the notorious "A Business Meeting in Hell" with the Golden Age's Vision taking on Satan and his demons as they try to corrupt a small town. This is also the final appearance of the original Ka-Zar, whose transition from pulps to comics ends with him battling a Nazi U-boat in "Fighting for the Free French."
