Action Comics #10 marks Superman's third cover appearance — and it's a classic, too, as Joe Shuster reflects America's conflicted emotions over returning to battle while the First World War was still seared into the world's consciousness. The comics industry would offer several covers in this tradition, with Superman seemingly battling against war as a concept than any defined enemy.
Action #10's lead story offers something equally unconventional in a Superman tale, as the Man of Steel goes undercover in a prison to expose a brutal warden. Zatara also appears as the most enduring of the two-fisted Action backup stars. "Treasure of Ghengis Khan" has the magician taking on the Tigress, with the Golden Age villainess already making her sixth appearance as Zatara's regular rival. Today, Action Comics #10 remains another extremely rare early Superman comic that commands top dollar on the Golden Age market.

This third-ever Superman cover glows with an incandescence rarely seen on a comic book with a G- grade. Although this book has a split spine, it is one of only 46 copies listed on the CGC Census, with twelve of those examples ranking lower than this handsome copy. With James Gunn rebooting the Superman film franchise in the hotly anticipated DCU, all Superman keys and early appearances are due to go up in demand and value faster than a speeding bullet. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a truly rare and important entry into the storied history of the Man of Steel.
