As WWII reached its peak, the entertainment industry kept catering to the insatiable public desire for patriotic distractions. Timely was busily creating a niche for themselves by launching one Nazi-bashing superhero series after another. The Mystic title was dusted off and re-launched to feature some of the publisher's most popular heroes, including the Human Torch, the Angel and the Destroyer. The imprint capped off the rebirth with one of the most outrageous anti-Axis covers of the era, while adding the popular Golden Age bondage motif.
