Jack Kirby/Steve Ditko cover; 1st app of GrootFew books have rocketed in value like Tales to Astonish #13. The book was always a fan favorite for the monsters imagined by Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and other classic artists. People still weren't ready for the first appearance of the evil Groot to take off in value as the debut of one of Marvel's most beloved heroes. The character had been reimagined in in 2006 as a noble figure in the comics, but Groot became a proper pop-culture star when he was recruited for the big-screen 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy alongside Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Adam Warlock, Gamora, Quasar, and Drax the Destroyer. The character's Baby Groot version still thrives in the "I Am Groot" series of shorts on Disney+, with expectations continuing for a return to cinemas.
