Steve Ditko cover/art; origin & 1st app of the Lizard (Doctor Curtis Connors) COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 8 (CBI)This early entry in the classic Lee/Ditko run on Amazing Spider-Man is a beloved collectible for the introduction of The Lizard--who would also be the first of several villains with an animalistic origin. In this instance, scientist Curt Connors create a serum that would help him regrow his missing arm, based on his research into lizards regenerating body parts. The good news is that the arm grows back; the bad news is that Connors is now a crazed lizard out to conquer the world.
The classic Stan Lee/Steve Ditko also does much to set up the Spider-Man mythos. J. Jonah Jameson brings photographer Peter Parker to Florida to get shots of Spidey battling the Lizard. That puts our hero in a real pickle to get the pics which JJJ will later only shred in frustration. Throw in that classic cover, and you have a top investment in the Spider-Man collectible category.
