Tied for 4th Highest Graded. Colors on this book are ridiculous! Has potential upgrade potential.
Nothing captures the World War II era quite like a Schomburg cover on a Timely Comic. Offered, here, are solo stories of the characters who would band together as a team in later issues as the All-Winners Squad. "Horror of the Ghost Fiend" starring the Human Torch and Toro, by Bill Finger and Alex Schomburg, is a beautifully drawn story about an American fighter plane en route to Basra, shot down by Nazi planes and the important document recovered from the wreckage. Then, three stories written by Otto Binder: "The Four Trials of Justice," has Captain America and Bucky fighting the Red Skull, the most important Cap villain in both the golden and silver ages (“Come and get it, Ratzis!”). "The Beachhead Blitz!" starring the Destroyer, tells the story of false documents about the invasion of France—and we even have Hitler, Goering and Goebbels appearing on the splash page. Finally, "Smash the Tunnel of Terror!” pits the Sub-Mariner against Japanese soldiers led by a devilish Captain Krashyu. At the end of the story, Namor expresses the feelings of so many people, “I just want to relax and forget war!”
