Ka-Zar's debut with Timely Comics preceded the creation of Superman by two years, but the jungle hero was almost forgotten by the start of the '60s. Then this issue of X-Men returned the Savage Land's ruler to the spotlight--thanks in large part to .outstanding art from Jack Kirby and Chic Stone. The mutants first head into the secret dinosaur-populated domain to determine if Ka-Zar is one of their own kind. An explosion of action ensues once the X-Men land, with the team battling the Swamp Men and a variety of dinosaurs with assistance from Ka-Zar and his saber-tooth tiger Zabu. Fortunately for Ka-Zar, the fans responded with enough fervor to once again establish the longtime icon as a Marvel superstar.
