origin Cyclops; origin & 1st app. Grotesk
Taking a cue from the Morlocks in H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine", the X-Men's latest challenge is the last survivor of an underground civilization who comes to the surface to seek revenge on humankind. Adopting the name Grotesk after being designated as such by the Beast, the irradiated giant blames the human race for the demise of his people. Unbeknownst to Grotesk, one of the machines his people built is still operational, and is currently causing tremors that threaten to destroy the planet, and only the X-Men can stop him! The bonus story "The Living Diamond" rounds out the remainder of this classic issue.
